technically chinese new year is ten days long
and the seventh is directly translated to "person person birth day" or as i like to call it "happy birthday to all [....and to all a good night ^^]"
so this pic to celebrate everyone because everyone has a corresponding zodiac animal
the chinese kanji coresponds with the animal it is next to, and the bigger "more important" kanji say "we wish you a happy chinese new andw and that everything will go smoothly for you this year"
oh and about the pink...hehe...funny story....
but the bottom line is it was the only color fay had left
so anyways,

Yeay pink! I like the bg alot! I think that it might help to rotate the pic a bit after you scan it to straighten it out. The eyes on the girl on the left could use some definition, Like shine and shadows. They are also tilting down, which makes her look sad, Your good at drawing people, but it may help to take a closer look at anatomy. You have the basic figure, but anatomy would put it over the top! I think it might also help to do a bit more shading, like add more depth with use of darker colors, if you look around dA you can find some really cool colored pencil tuts! Even just finding a color a shade darker, and adding some shadows will make an amazing difference! I love your design, and the concept is really pretty! The hair is super cute too, I love the flower!
